The fifth conference of the German-Japanese Society for Social Sciences will take place from September 13-16, 1998 at Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan(http://www.waseda.ac.jp/index-e.html). Please see the program.
This meeting is to continue and support the scientific cooperation between German and Japanese social scientists. Especially, this meeting serves exchange of ongoing research on the present-day Japan and Germany. The main focus of the 5th meeting is on social change in Japan and Germany.

Transportation:
From Tokyo's International Airport Narita, the Rihga Royal Hotel Waseda (Tokyo(http://www.rihga.co.jp/hotel/group/index_g.htm) and central Tokyo are accessible by rail, bus or taxi.
Although rail transportation offers the most reasonabel and quick means of access, if you are not familiar with Japan's public transportation, we advise that you consider the airport limousine bus service offered from the airport to the Shinjuku area.
The airport limousine bus from Narita Airpolt to Shinjuku Station takes approx. 1 hour 40 minutes and costs Yen 2,900. To take advantage of this service, buy a ticket in the Arrival Hall and then go to Bus Stop No. 23 at the Narita Airport(Leaves every 25 minutes). From Shinjuku Station, you can then take a taxi directly to the Rihga Royal Hotel Waseda Tokyo. Transportation from Shinjuku Station by taxi will cost approx. Yen 1,500, depending on traffic conditions.
